SIPER (Innovation For Poverty Eradication)

ISIPER (Incubator Of Social Innovation For Poverty Eradication)

Summary ISPER

Maybank Islamic Berhad's iSIPER project involves the allocation of funds of RM500,000 which is zakat money from Maybank Islamic Berhad. This project involves 3 main crops project which are gray oyster mushroom and hydroponic plants. A total of RM 120,000 will be allocated for the mushroom project for 35,000 blocks of mushrooms while hydroponics is allocated as much as RM 20,000 for infrastructure purposes and plant needs. The rest is allocated for the allowance for 25 to 50 participants consisting of asnaf and B40 graduates. The project will start in January 2022 until December 2022 for 1 year.

BACKGROUND

In 2020, the Institute of Sustainable Agrotechnology (INSAT) is in the process of being transformed as Centre of Technology (COT) under the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic & International Affairs (TNCAA). This is in line with UniMAP 2025's plan to strengthen agricultural - based academic, research and entrepreneurial programs. In addition, contributions to the community through activities such as short courses and agricultural consultations are also intensified to be a landmark of UniMAP's excellence.

INSAT functions primarily as COT to provide agriculture-based programs by providing farm-based eco-systems services for teaching and learning purposes. It also provides practical workplaces related to agriculture, agricultural & environmental laboratory services, practical training, co-curricular activities and training programs for graduates. As well as organizing short courses, technology transfer and forges international relations on agriculture.

INSAT has focused on research to realize technology - based smart agriculture. Some of these activities are the collaboration of researchers with agriculture - based companies. It aims to create competitiveness and maintain sustainability in agriculture. INSAT’s research areas include open farm production systems, controlled environment systems, vertical and urban agriculture, organic pesticides, organic fertilizers, aquaculture and automation & robotics systems (4WRD industry areas include monitoring and control systems using sensors, microcontrollers, drives, robots, drones and cloud - based systems).

INSAT also works with government agencies to provide services to the community and consultancy activities involving agricultural projects especially those involving the use of smart technology.

OVERVIEW LAB. INSAT

Laboratory INSAT (LAB.INSAT) as a driving force for agriculture-based research and engineering technology in UniMAP, Institute of Sustainable Agrotechnology (INSAT) play a major role for the research visibility that contributes to the development of agriculture particularly in UniMAP, Perlis.

Starting the operation on 2009, LAB.INSAT is centralized at the main building of INSAT, located in Campus Alam UniMAP, Padang Besar Perlis. Our laboratory provides high-quality research and analyses with a wide range of research disciplines to promote, support and initiate research through preparation and processing of agriculture, environmental and engineering technology. The LAB.INSAT also provides a great place for practical students to gain their industrial experience. They will involve in various activities such as experimental set up, data measurement and analysis, and laboratory management to increases their competency level. LAB.INSAT have 4 main laboratories General laboratory, Analytical laboratoryPreparation laboratory and Microbiology laboratory.
