Knowledge transfer program with local farmers

The Institute of Sustainable Agrotechnology organized a knowledge transfer program for local farmers to enhance their skills in mango farm management and pest control. The event was held on 10 February 2025 at the Institute of Sustainable Agrotechnology with 50 participants from Perlis. A one-day sharing session and agrotechnology demonstration project was conducted by an expert from the university and a well-experienced farmer from Koperasi YA Perlis. This event is targeted at participants of full-time mango farmers to increase their knowledge and skills that will benefit reducing poverty and contribute to national food security. UniMAP also demonstrated the use of a smart farming innovation project developed in-house by the researcher, such as electronic cannon for pest control and the smart farming technology

Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM 3) upskilling program for local farmers

Institute of Sustainable Agrotechnology organized the event and short course for local farmers wishing to pursue the Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) Level 3 in crop production operations. The program took place on May 20, 2025, at the Institute of Sustainable Agrotechnology. Conducted in collaboration with the Perlis Farmers' Organization Authority (LPP), the course provided training to 40 participants. Fully sponsored by the Farmers' Organization Authority, the program featured both lecture-based and hands-on learning modules. UniMAP researchers shared insights on the use of digital technology in agriculture and greenhouse crop technologies

Empowering local farmers by sharing expertise and modern machines

Empowering local farmers through shared expertise and modern machines boosts crop yields, cuts down heavy manual work, and shifts small farms into profitable, smart businesses. This initiative relies on distributing advanced tools and running hands-on training workshops to build long-term local success. INSAT collaborates with local farmers to help them improve farm management efficiency. The university provides access to on-site facilities—such as machinery and crop-tending robots—to assist farmers in optimizing their operations. INSAT also takes the initiative to enhance agricultural sustainability by facilitating the use of crop residues (such as corn stalks) as livestock feed for nearby farmers; this initiative helps reduce their operating costs while simultaneously promoting sustainable agriculture
